David,
Are you satisfied with the graphics layouts on the front and back cover? If so, I'm going to give them both a last sharp-eyed look over to check for imperfections and so forth.
Do these need to be reduced to a smaller size? I sent you the hi-res versions and those might prove too heavy for general download consumption. Let me know.
Also, if we need other illustrations... also, let me know.
Cheers,
- Ignatz

Ignatz,
Yeah, I think we're set. It's been quite a journey! I hope you don't regret all the time you spent on this. Certainly, I don't, but then, I had the easy part.
Only got a couple of hours sleep last night, because I napped for five hours yesterday, after the dentist. I think I'm getting the hang of this napping thing! Though five hours might be a bit much for a "nap", as it was longer than my "bedtime" last night!

David,
I don't regret any of the effort that was put into this project. It has been all sorts of fun, both creatively and intellectually. Good for the grey cells... and hopefully for the Stardrifter fans as well.
In short order I'll send you two very slightly improved renders of the front and back cover. I'm such a fussy one that I had to retouch a bit here... and here... and then over there. I'll bet that nobody would notice except me, but there you have it.

Ignatz,
Regarding the render size, I'm actually not sure about that. Other game PDFs are all different sizes. There's no standard whatsoever. I'm tempted to publish them at same size as the last few; when you've got great covers, you may as well flaunt 'em, right?

David,
I'm including two 'final' hi-res renders with this email. They include my very last fussy corrections. Like I said, you probably won't notice any differences, but I had to be happy with the end results as a matter of principle.

Ignatz,
You're right, I don't see the last-minute tweaks, but I know what you mean about those last little details that bother you. No sense letting them give you grief, even if no one else will notice.
Thank you for everything you've done! These covers are beautiful, and they're all down to you.
-David
PS: Oh, hey! You didn't put your name on the art anywhere. You should consider remedying that.

David,
About the front/back covers. No, I'm not going to sign the work in any way, but thank you for suggesting it.
Sincerely,
- Ignatz
And that’s it, dear reader. This is the final issue of Tottenberg, a chronicle of collaboration between a gifted artist, and a silly dreamer (and I’ll let you suss out who is who.) It was an involved, rather intense process at times, and if he could have seen how much work it would was going to be for him, I’m sure Ignatz would have run for the hills, rather than commit himself to such a task. I’m only grateful that he did not, and remain humbled by his skill, talent, professionalism, and friendship.
Tottenberg covered a grand total of three-hundred thirty-one letters that we sent back and forth, from February 5, to June 08 of 2021. Five months. You can add half again as many letters to that number, when you include conversations about our various other projects, hobbies, family news, health concerns, and sometimes just the weather. Most of the emails that made it into this newsletter were edited down, because of all the personal and non-Stardrifter talk we shared throughout them.
Ignatz and I are still in fairly regular contact, and there were other projects that we worked on together after this, though smaller and tangential in nature.
If you’d like to get hold of the 3D models Ignatz created for this project, you can download them for free at Sketchfab.com. I know of at least one person who 3D printed a Tottenberg ship for himself, which is about the coolest thing in the world!
Tottenberg may be done, but the Stardrifter newsletter, which shares this same feed, is ongoing. It will continue to come out when I have news, or something to release, or you know… just because. Look for more issues in the future.
I need to thank Ignatz one more time for everything he did; sharing his gifts, and indulging my fancies. An amazing man, an incredible artist, and a wonderful friend. It never would have happened without him, obviously, but before he offered to help, I never even believed it was possible for Stardrifter to look so good.
Most of all, I need to extend my gratitude to you, dear reader, for spending your time and attention on this newsletter. It was my deepest honor to present this, the most comprehensive artistic collaboration in which I’ve ever been involved. They don’t appear often, projects like this.
Thanks for coming along for the ride!
-David
