David,
I've already bird-dogged a couple of free-to-use 3D models that would lend themselves to some subtle alterations and could be used in the creation of the graphics.
The space station might be used pretty much as is. The space suited figure needs some work in my opinion, but could be used... especially if it was small in the final image.

Ignatz,
I'm not sure about the layout stuff, but if you want to give it a try, then sure, why not? The station could be a small highdock, out near a jump point. How would the spaceman appear with a bubble helmet? I'm a fan of that retro-future look!
Or we can scrap the concept of having a station and spaceman entirely. Again, it's up to you, but I can't emphasize enough how little importance I place upon my own visual ideas.
If you want to give it a try, then by all means, do so. I'm without any particular predilections, either way, but I consider the ship to be pretty friggin' spectacular, frankly, and would want it to be a central feature of at least one large illustration in the book (if at all possible).

David,
I most definitely agree. The ship itself is the important item here. The space station and suited figures are pretty much "throw-aways" in the scene, but could add that little bit of graphic flavour. Your point about 'retro' in connection with the suited figure is noted... and... it must be admitted that the figure I downloaded looks way too 'night in armour' and/or Zylon empire to be used 'as is'.
I'll turn my mind to all that once I've finished texturing at least three sides of the cargo frame.
End of transmissions for the day,
