David,
Haven't quite gotten around to adding color, but I quickly rigged the little guy and couldn't resist snapping a few posed shots. Nothing special here and the poses will be changed to suit when I put together the graphics for you. Likewise, if I decide that this guy DOES require any equipment I'll produce that as needed. But do let me know if you think there is some sort of basic equipment that he should be sporting all the time. Special tools? More lighting? Lunch box?
Color-wise I'm thinking that spacemen would have bright, visible suits. Makes it slightly easier to locate if one drifts off a ways.
The only fly in the ointment is the glass material of his helmet. Blender makes rather a chowder of the look in that area so I've had to work around it by combining different render types in the Adobe Photoshop. If this were animated I'd have to find a better answer, but for a few graphic stills... no sweat.
Remember the discussions we had so early on about texture painting and/or the special painting software for same? In retrospect I can see that I/we would've gotten almost no value from such a purchase given the nature of the graphics we will ultimately produce. Everything is pretty far away relative to the point of view. Most special surface textures would have been totally wasted effort.
Cheers,
- Ignatz
