David,
I've dived into what will probably prove to be a much faster bit of the project to finish: a high dock. Yes, I know that I found one on the net that seemed like it had the proper license for free usage, but... I really wanted something that was absa-tively our own and so I'm reconstructing same to my own satisfaction. Not gettin' crazy with this one as I know it will be used at a small size in the frame and almost nobody will be able to check it out. As for the details on this one I'm just checkin' with the local R&D department.
And, yes, I know you said to relax, but for me this IS relaxing. ;-)
Cheers,

Ignatz,
Some guys just can't sit still, I guess.
That's an interesting structure. It'll look great in the finished image! Just sitting there, way off in the distance, I think it'll give viewers the impression of “business”, “settlement”, and "neighborhood" all in one, if that makes any sense. By having the station in the shot, if provides an immediate answer to the question of, "So, where are they going?" Granted, the ship isn't going there in our minds, but we know how the ship is designed to function. For others, it's part of a whole settlement and/or transportation system.
Usually, in game cover art like this, you get a space battle of some sort, or characters fighting bug-eyed monsters with scifi weapons. Exotic planets in the background feature heavily, too. This will stand out; it looks different, and it shows people working, not fighting. If, as a game designer and storyteller, I can offer up content that cool, extraordinary situations can arise out of mundane or "non-critical" circumstances, then I'll feel like I did my job.
If the spaceman gets similar treatment, and is placed in the image in the "foreground", but at such a distance that he's essentially no bigger than the space station on the cover, I'd imagine he wouldn't need any great detail work either. Or am I missing the concept? I'm not visually-inclined in my mental imagery, as I'm sure you know by now!
At the least, take frequent breaks, okay?
