Here are concept renders of the Missile Turret Drone.
The flying base for this drone is comprised of energy production (batteries and/or reactor cell), thrusters and magnetic locating socket base.
Those thrusters are arranged in four pods, each sporting thrusters at opposing ends. The pods can rotate on their mounts. The thrusters can independently swivel in all directions. This gives the drones quick response and manoeuvrability.
The socket underneath the base serves to locate the drones in fixed locations on the ship or cargo container. The socket contains the electronics for induction field power transfer.
The socket is a standard shared by all drones. Only the size of the base above the socket as well as the size and spread of the thrusters would be changed to a degree for other, smaller drone types.
I have also included a render of one of the missile turret drones locked onto a support pad on the top side of the cargo hauler.
