David,
A couple of renders of the lantern gun drone in situ with the lantern head emitter out extended in the operating position.
I put in a bit of 'glow' around the lantern head as I might expect to see while it is warmed up and ready for action.
Gosh but the 100 meters of that beam arm extension sure looks like nothing in comparison to the Box Hauler, not to mention the leviathan mass of the cargo frame and its container load! But I know we are dealing with a charged energy weapon and not something that spits out mass so I'm not worried.

Ignatz,
That looks great! I like that it's so tiny by comparison, to be honest. It gives a sense of the scale of things, and how under-powered civvie guns really are. It's goofy and weird, and I love it!
My computer in the back room died on me yesterday. That's the one where I do all my audio. I think it's the motherboard, maybe, but it's such an old machine, it's not worth repairing. I'm buying another referbed machine to take its place. Probably an old Dell Optiplex. Those are cheap, readily available, and adequate for my purposes.
I am so sick of computers, let me tell you.

David,
Always a bummer when a computer (or component of same) craps out. Always 'Murphy's Law' when you are under a deadline or god-only-knows. Do remember that regular back-ups are a blessing... almost a holy edict.
Glad you like the renders. Like I said, I don't think that anybody besides you or me will EVER see all that careful work on the Lantern Gun Drone (ha! ha!). I might add a few running lights to the base of that drone, but it is essentially finished. On to some other part of the project.
I'm beginning to think that the model building portion of this project is the easy part. Adding materials, painting, textures(?) and so forth could represent some major pain in terms of work. We'll see.
Regards,
