David,

Included render is showing the cargo frame with a couple of containers installed. Those containers are not yet finished. Need a bit more detail, but no sense going crazy with that as I figure that too much will be wasted, especially since those containers are usually seen at a distance.

Space ship cargo container frame. Work in progress.
The “small” containers are bigger than the ship!

The containers will have large doors at either end (where that open square is) and at one end an airlock/hatch for entry to inspect the cargo if required. The beam work you see on the sides is massive. Each reinforcing beam is something like a meter-plus wide. Lots of them to give strength to the sides of the containers.

Cheers,

- Ignatz

Ignatz,

Sometimes I forget how big the scale of all this is. You could easily fit one of the ships into a box if you disassemble it. Heck, you could probably get two in a box that way. It would probably make sense to fill these boxes with smaller ones, maybe the size and shape of modern cargo containers. These would make further distribution and dissemination at destination star systems easier. If the freight is big enough that cargo containers can't be used, then they'd just be made fast inside a box, and away they'd go.

The reinforcing beams on the sides are a nice touch. They make perfect sense!
